Police have arrested a man identified as Sunit alias “Katua,” a resident of Nagla Hardayal in the Mant area of Mathura, for allegedly issuing a life threat to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath through a video posted on social media.
In the viral video, Sunit was seen brandishing a pistol and threatening to shoot the Chief Minister by September 25 before taking his own life.

He also displayed a pistol magazine, claiming it contained nine bullets, and threatened to “fire all nine.” He claimed that he had earlier filed a complaint with the CM’s office but no action was taken, which pushed him to make this extreme step of threatening the chief minister.
When police reached his residence on Friday evening to arrest him, Sunit locked himself inside and opened fire from the third floor, also threatening to shoot himself. After nearly an hour-long standoff, police managed to overpower and arrest him. A pistol and live cartridges were seized from his possession.
According to local residents, the accused had been under mental stress and would often speak loudly about his personal problems. Many residents described his behavior as increasingly unstable in recent months.
The video had gone viral on social media, prompting immediate action from law enforcement. Authorities are currently investigating how he procured the weapon and his exact motive behind the threat.
A case has been registered against Sunit under serious charges including criminal intimidation, attempt to incite violence, and illegal possession of arms.
Further investigation is underway.
